What an impact this man has had (and continues to have) on our children! So many fun books…it is hard to pick a favourite, but one that I loved as a child was “One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish” His books are always such great fun to read…they just sound cool (and you might learn a bit too)! I encourage you to read one tonight with your child…it will take you right back to your childhood!
And in honor of what would be Dr. Seuss creator Theofor Geisel’s 106th birthday, we offer these wonderfully inspiring quotes from him and our eternal gratitude for him….
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”
“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
“Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”
“You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.”
“You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.”
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” “If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good”
“You are you. Now, isn’t that pleasant?”
“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
“So you see! There’s no end to the thing you might know, depending how far beyond Zebra you go.”
“You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you will be the guy who’ll decide where you’ll go. Oh the places you’ll go.”
What is YOUR favourite Dr. Seuss book??
